Acton’s Hotel, Kinsale
Refurb of hotel
Travertine was used as flooring to the central area of reception, with a dark timber reception desk with a large obscure glazing framed behind. The floor of areas leading to the restaurant, corridors and bar was carpeted with paper to walls.
The restaurant was designed using a nautical theme, with dark blue walls, contrasted with white rope wound around the columns, with various nautical items and artwork. The floor was carpeted with an informal arrangement of tables.
The lounge area had a feature fireplace to one end and was divided by two large columns, which were clad in dark timber as were the dummy columns each side.
A feature full height mirror was fitted opposite a table for reading material with panelling over. The floor was finished in a tartan carpet.
Sidney’s Bar was refurbished with a new stone floor, new timber bar counter with back fittings, new tables and chairs and an external area was formed to give options. Walls are papered with artwork and lighting is general subdued except over the bar counter and behind.
The bedrooms that were refurbished were gutted and new carpet, wallpaper, artwork, sanitary fittings, wall tiling, curtains and loose furniture selected and finished. These bedrooms were the first phase of a yearly rolling upgrade.
The floor of the circulation area to pool plus the changing rooms and showers were finished a small buff coloured tile, with the walls and columns finish in a dark blue mosaic which mirrored in colour the central area of a two level ceiling. A patterned blue/white tile with a plain white tile, formed a pattern to the sides and floor of the pool itself.
The reception, gym were finished out in durable finishes.
