CCH were commissioned (in collaboration with RKD Architects) To design a male and female university campus capable of accommodating 22,000 students plus teaching and support staff in a site near Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The male and female campus is a self-contained community, with lecture theatres/ classrooms, laboratories, dormitories, library, administration, mosques, medical facilities, services/dining, cafeterias, retail/commercial facilities, landscaping open areas, courts, parking and other services and amenities.
The buildings were design in a style which reflected the Arab culture but with a modern slant and contained a main connecting spine with teaching areas opening off as wings, taking advantage on both sides of landscaped garden. Shade was an important feature to both circulation and rooms.
